Yesterday when I buzzed Boston's head I started with a 4 then decided to go to a 3. Well, today we noticed that there were a few pieces that were still a 4. So Rob decided to give it a "touch up"... THIS WAS A HORRIBLE, TERRIBLE, NO GOOD, VERY BAD IDEA!!!! Boston managed to knock the guard off the clippers right as Rob was making his final swoop.. So we were forced to literally shave his head with no guard!! He looks bald!! At least he makes a cute bald kid! Maybe I'll be able to laugh about this tomorrow :)
Boston just said his first sentence!! "I gotta poop!" ha ha ha Not my favorite choice for a first sentence but I'm so proud of him! Boston still has some tummy issues leftover from the whole dairy allergy thing and so he always tells me "poop" when he knows one's going to hurt so I can hold him and give him lots of love while he.. ya know.. so of course that's the one thing that he decides to turn into a real sentence first! Such a boy!
The little monkey finally did it! Now added to our list of things that go bump in the night.. Boston launching himself out of his crib! We knew it would happen eventually, we just thought we had more time! We were in such disbelief that we had to have him show us how he did it and he was happy to oblige. It seems Boston has been blessed with the rare combination of ridiculous upper body strength, an unbreakable spirit and wicked awesome flexibility. That boy can whip his gummy little toes up past his shoulders onto the top bar while standing in his crib and use arms to pull himself up and out. We looked all over town for one of those crib nets that are made to keep cats out to try to contain him but alas twas not meant to be(no longer sold due to safety issues). The pillowed landing pad will have to do. It will be a sad day when we walk into Boston's bedroom and find that he has escaped from his crib, hot-wired his toy four-wheeler and is now being held down at the precinct for holding up the local build-a-bear.... you may laugh but this is our nightmare... -Post by Rob (I don't often participate in the blog but sometimes your boy does you proud)
Last thursday Boston got a 103 degree fever. His first fever...I am not a fan! It lasted until Sunday and was responding well to meds so we weren't too worried. On Sunday the fever went down and Boston broke out into a rash and based on pictures I had seen of my friends baby and the fact that everyone seems to be getting roseola lately I thought it was that. Well, the rash didn't get worse like roseola would have so yesterday I took him to the doc just to make sure everything was ok.
Turns out he has Fifths Disease. First off, whatever genius decided to name a viral infection a disease needs to be kicked! What mother wants to hear that her baby has a disease?! It makes you're heart stop for a second! Anyways, when the doctor explained that it was a viral infection I wasn't so worried. It should be gone in a few days and we should be back to normal :)
Oh and in case you're wondering.. you know if it's fifths disease by the rash. The rash makes their cheeks super red like they have just been slapped (DR'S WORDS! which i think is a terrible way to describe it) and they have a lacey/mottled looking rash (mostly on the arms and legs). Boston's little thighs looks like he's wearing red lace tights :)
Everything is all about cars these days in the Hartshorn household. Boston just adores them! Everywhere we drive he points out EVERY car on the street. It's so cute listening to him chime "car, car, car, car, car" in the backseat. Oh and now when the light turns green he yells "GOOOO!" What a smarty pants!
A few weeks ago we went and bought him a bunch of car stuff and for the first time I bought a toy that is a MAJOR hit! It's a car racer and Boston plays with it all day long! Most of the toys I have bought him in the past are loved for a few days then forgotten and I'm left feeling like a failure at picking out toys for my child. Not this time! It's been weeks and that thing and all of his hotwheels cars are still played with a few hours each day. Yay me! We went to Chuck E. Cheese the other day and Boston noticed the slide. He kept asking for it but is too little to get up into the tubes himself so I took him up. For those of you who know how claustrophobic I am know how much I love this little guy to go up there! Just looking at this picture is making me all claustrophobic again! He loved crawling in the tubes! Look how polite he's sitting there! Such a cutie! We bought 180 tokens and quickly realized we were being WAY overzealous with that purchase! We were there for a good hour and a half doing non-stop rides and games and still have over half of our tokens left! Looks like we'll be going back a bunch! All day everyday Boston asks for "sing"(swing) and "side"(outside). I can't wait til it's not so freaking hot out so we can play outside all day! Rob's such a fun dad!! He let's Boston "kick" him while he swings. I have never heard Boston laugh so hard! This is my all time favorite!! Look at Rob's face! ha ha Another favorite of Boston's is to lay on the tramp and watch the airplanes fly over our house. We live 20 mins from the airport so all day planes are passing overhead. When daddy hops on the tramp things get a little crazy... I try not to watch Boston LOVES it when Daddy hops on!
Boston loves to use random things as chairs.. especially Costco milk boxes! So the other day when we got home from Costco I tossed the box on the ground so Boston could play with it forgetting to turn it open side down. All of sudden Rob and I hear a "ssslunk" noise and a grunt and looked up to see this! We both lost it!! Poor Boston was stuck like this while we totally ignored him cuz we were laughing so hard. Then of course I needed a picture :)
You know when your kid's being quiet it's never good.. BUSTED! (don't judge his outfit.. we put him in jammie bottoms for his nap and I hadn't changed him back yet)
Today as I came walking out of the laundry room I heard a "hi mommy!" and looked up to see this!
Oh boy kid!! In the 20 seconds I was in the other room, he climbed up onto the couch and over the back and was just hangin' out. He's so cute and proud of himself but it's definitely not safe! While he's fine hanging there it's the switching directions on top of the couch that's just asking for a headfirst fall to the wood floor. Looks like it's back to the days of taking him to the bathroom with me so he stays safe.. the joys of motherhood :)
What a fun weekend!! Saturday we went to a bbq with some friends. I think this is a pretty cute family shot {especially my studs!} On the way home from the bbq Boston asked for his water and what I didn't realize until we got home was that he just wanted to sip it and spit it out like an elephant {he loves elephants!}. He was drenched! I caught him mid spit on this one.. Since we had to leave the bbq before they busted out the fireworks we bathed Boston then lit a few fireworks and sparklers before he went nigh nigh Today {the 4th} we headed to Summerlin to Rob's brother's house for some more bbq. We took ribs and they smoked a brisket. Yummy! Sidenote: This morning we found out our smoker is broken.. we're so sad! What's a Texas boy to do without a smoker?
It was so much fun to be with family and have Boston play with his cousins. Boston pounded 3 ribs by himself! I forgot my camera so no pics from the bbq :( When we got home we quickly threw B into a bath then lit off the rest of our fireworks. He was so funny.. he just leaned back with his hands behind his head and watched. Our neighbors down the street started to light up the fireworks that shoot up in the air and Boston kept throwing his hands up and saying "wooow! woooow! whooooa! woooow!" And what would a holiday be without a self-took family pic? :) Can I just say that I love that Boston yells "cheeeese!" when we take his picture? Happy 4th everyone!!
Boston had his first play-date this morning! Technically it's not his first play-date but I consider it the first because it's the first time he had a buddy over without a mommy in tow. Usually his play-dates are so I can have some adult interaction but this one was just for him :)
He had his buddy Logan over to play. Logan is such a cutie! He wore cologne.. how cute is that? He wanted to look and smell his best for their play-date!! He is such a sweetie and the boys were so good at taking turns and playing nice.. that's all Logan's doing. Boston isn't perfect at sharing yet but he followed Logan's good example and did great at taking turns. I love watching kids give hugs! It's so precious! Logan got overzealous with the hug and semi-tackled Boston into the couch. Boston thought it was hilarious so they did it over and over and over They played tag. Boston is pretty easy to catch since he's younger and slower so I had to jump in to make it more fun for Logan Well, it was a fun morning! Hopefully we can have Logan over more often :)
We took Boston to see his first movie Toy Story 3! He did so good! Boston got sick :( This was his first throw-up sickness. It broke my heart! And we got our house re-plumbed. Apparently the houses in our neighborhood were built with defective plumbing so they are going from house to house re-plumbing them. We had plumbers in-n-out for three days and they still need to come back on Monday to finish things up. I was hoping to snap a classic "crack shot" but my plumbers were nice and spared me that ;) Here's a few of my favorite things Boston does lately.. Before bed each night we have to put Boston's stuffed animals to "nigh nigh" So we round em all up, tuck them in one at a time, then give each of them a kiss goodnight. He's very tender-hearted. I have to leave them right there until the next morning or else Boston gets super sad. When he comes out in the morning, he rips the blanket off and yells "hiiiiiiiiiiii!" "Give em the mean mug" brings this look.. video to come it's hilarious!! And when I ask Boston how old he is he holds up one finger! This is the best shot I could get of it
