Recently I bought Boston a time out mat. He's a good little guy so there are only 2 things that put him into time out.. throwing his food and pulling the alarm sensors off the windows. I can't stand when he does either of these and after many failed attempts at teaching him not to do it thought time out might do the trick. WRONG! My smart sweet pea has figured out a loophole..
About a week ago I saw him walk over to the window and stand looking at the alarm sensor. I could tell he was thinking about how it was a "no no" to pull it off. I started to mentally give myself a pat on that back that my awesome mothering skills had taught him not to do something and that he was obeying me because I was such a great mom. Well, just as I was feeling great about myself he reached out and pulled it off the window! As I was about to walk over to him he laid it on the window sill, said "no no" and WALKED HIMSELF TO TIME OUT!!! He sat there for a little bit (probably 20 seconds) then came over to me, gave me a hug and said sorry "taweee" (that's what we do during time out)
I couldn't stop laughing! My child had put himself in time out! Instead of not doing something naughty, he was willing to do it and punish himself! That right there describes our little Boston to a tee. He knows what he wants and will happily endure any consequence to get it. Oh Boston you are such a silly kid and I love ya to bits!
