Help!

I'm done breastfeeding.

The no-dairy diet our little mister had me on made the quantity and quality of my milk no bueno.

This past month I could only get out 3 feedings a day for him. I spent hours scouring books, the internet, asking friends, pumping, etc trying everything I could to boost my supply. But what I really needed was more fats.. dairy fats. There was no getting around that one!

Poor Mac was miserable.. my milk was calorie-poor. I worried he wasn't thriving.... haha YA RIGHT! But he was miserable..so was I. I was determined to get to 6 months. I made it 5. I guess that's close enough :)

So now I'm done. My last feeding was Monday morning...I cried a little.

Mac's been soooo much happier since I stopped tho! He's actually getting milk with all the calories he needs now so that he can feel full. I feel bad that I made him hang in so long but I really wanted him to get the antibodies and stuff.

So, like I said, my last feeding was Monday morning. It's now Friday night and I am STILL in so much pain! I spent the last 2 weeks working my way from 3 feedings a day down to 1 a day to avoid this lovely situation but it obviously didn't work. I find it funny that I fought so hard the past several months to keep my milk going and now that i'm ok with it going away it won't!

Anyone know of anything that I can take or do to dry me up fast?!

Try pumping one more time. The pain will go away and since your body is not used to reproducing milk as needed then it won't. Worked for me. Good luck!

Ugh, I'm sorry, that sounds miserable. I hope it's gotten better for you! I just got mastitis for the first time last week...the joys of nursing and/or weaning, eh?

I hope it got better! This pregnancy was the first one that it actually hurt afterwards. Did you find relief yet? You are one strong woman to keep going for five months! If I coudln't have dairy I think I would have stopped after a month :).
